Understanding Web Architecture — The Foundation of Every System

Web architecture is the backbone of modern applications. It consists of multiple components working together to deliver services to users over the internet.

According to the notes, web architecture includes: - Database - Message Queue - Cache - UI - Other supporting services

These components interact to build an online service.

### Core Idea

Web architecture involves multiple system components, communication between them, processing user requests, and returning responses.

Typical flow: **User → UI → Server → Database → Response → User**

### Client–Server Model

This architecture follows a Request–Response Model. The client sends a request, the server processes it, and the server sends a response. This is the fundamental way web systems work.

### Types of Clients

Two primary types of clients are defined: 1. **Thin Client**: UI only, no business logic. Example: Web browsers. 2. **Thick Client**: UI + Business Logic, where more processing happens on the client side. Examples: Utility applications, Online games.

### Server Role

The server receives requests, executes business logic, and returns responses. Other specialized server types include Proxy Servers, Mail Servers, File Servers, Virtual Servers, and Data Storage Servers.
